Moriarty Has Been Cast in SHERLOCK HOLMES 2!

It looks like Guy Ritchie has found his Moriarty, and it's not the previously rumored Brad Pitt or Daniel Day Lewis. According to our friends at Latino Review, Jared Harris has been cast in the role of the main villain Professor Moriarty in Sherlock Holmes 2.

I honestly didn't expect this sort of casting at all, but I love it! For those of you who don't know who Jared Harris is, he is the son of actor Richard Harris, and currently stars on the hit AMC TV series Mad Men. I thought for sure they would go for a more popular well known actor, but I couldn't be happier they went with Harris.

This is seriously inspired casting, Harris has the look of an evil mastermind hell bent on creating chaos and causing problems.

Harris will be joining Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, and the recently cast Stephen Fry.

Here is how Sherlock Holmes describes Moriarty:

He is a man of good birth and excellent education, endowed by nature with a phenomenal mathematical faculty. At the age of twenty-one he wrote A Treatise on the Binomial Theorem, which has had a European vogue. On the strength of it he won the mathematical chair at one of our smaller universities, and had, to all appearances, a most brilliant career before him.

But the man had hereditary tendencies of the most diabolical kind. A criminal strain ran in his blood, which, instead of being modified, was increased and rendered infinitely more dangerous by his extraordinary mental powers. Dark rumours gathered round him in the University town, and eventually he was compelled to resign his chair and come down to London. He is the Napoleon of Crime, Watson, the organiser of half that is evil and nearly all that is undetected in this great city...

So what do you all think about Harris tking on the role of Moriarty in Sherlock Holmes 2?
