There's a new SNOW WHITE going into Development

A new Snow White film is currently being shopped around at different movie studios. The film is called Snow White and the Huntsman which will be a different take on the classic fairy tale. The movie will be written and directed by Evan Daugherty.

The film will feature a bigger role for the Huntsman. In the fairy tale, he is ordered to take Snow White into the woods and kill her, but instead lets her go. In the new take, the Huntsman is not a love interest but acts more as a mentor, teaching Snow White to fight and survive.

Yeah! That way when she runs into the seven dawrves she can kill them instead of befriend them, you can't trust anyone in those woods!

Disney is the only studio that's not really interested in the project. That's because they are developing a Snow White film of their own called Snow and the Seven, which is being directed by Francis Lawrence. Then Brett Ratner is also deveoping a Snow White film, so It look like we're going to get overloaded with snow White movies over the next couple of years.

As for the little known writer and director of this Snow White retelling, Daugherty wrote a draft of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe and got his start with an action spec called Shrapnel, which John McTiernan recently came on to direct.

I can't say I'm very excited for all of these new live-action fairy tale films. I'm sure some of them will be great, but it looks like we're just going to get overloaded with them.
