Darren Aronofsky could Direct PREACHER!

Darren Aronosfsky has become a hot topic of conversation recently, with his upcoming film Black Swan, and his name being attached to a short list of directors to possibly take on the Superman reboot for Warner Bros. Now according to Newsarama Aronofsky has shown some interest in directing the comic book film adaptation of Preacher. Both Superman and Preacher will shoot around the same time, so if this is true he may have to make a choice if he's actually offered the Superman directing gig.

Preacher has been in development for a long time, as far back as 1995. Most recently Sam Mendes was attached to direct the film from a script written by John August, but that all fell apart. Medes wanted to focus on Bond 23. If Aronofsky took on the project there's no information of whether he'll use that same script or not.

Preacher was created by writer Garth Ennis and artist Steve Dillon, and tells the story of Texas reverend Jesse Custer who, after merging with the escaped offspring of a demon and an angel, find himself imbued with the word of God, the power to command anyone to do his bidding. Teamed with his ex girlfriend, Tulip O'Hare and an Irish vampire named Cassidy, Custer sets out across America to track down the almighty and force him to explain why he abandoned creation.

What do you think about Aronofsky possibly directing Preacher? Would you rather have him direct this of Superman?
