Mike White No Longer Directing PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES

Well, this news comes as a surprise. Mike White has dropped out as the director of the film adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith's Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. According to Deadline, "White had a preexisting commitment at HBO, and they couldn't make schedules mesh." White had this to say in a statement:

I loved the project and looked forward to working with Lionsgate. Unfortunately, the timing could not be worked out. I wish them the best with the movie.

I think White would have done a good job with the film, but I'm not all broken up about him dropping out, because he is one of those directors that's easily replaceable. Who knows?  Maybe Lionsgate will bring in someone better to take on the project.
