DEADLIEST WARRIOR Hires Two Writers

Production of The Deadliest Warrior is getting ready for battle. Paramount announced today that John D. Payne and Patrick McKay have been hired to write the script.

Warrior is being developed by Shawn Levy's 21 Laps Entertainment and is the first time that Spike TV and Paramount have worked together. The film is based on the show that has been in production on Spike for three years and pits past warriors against each other in hypothetical battles.

21 Laps president, Dan Levine is set to produce the with Levy who may also direct. Not much is know about the story at this point. Payne and McKay's other screenplay for action film Goliath is in development at Relativity Media with Scott Derrickson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose) in negotiations to direct.

I have never watched Deadliest Warrior on Spike but the premise sounds pretty cool. It seems like a different idea for a film, which is a nice change of pace from all of the recent remakes/reboots announced lately.
