HBO has made Boardwalk Empire an offer it can't refuse, by renewing it for a third season. The second season may be down 47% from the series debut a year ago, but it still pulled in 4.5 million viewers for all of the plays of show when it premiered on Sept. 25. The pilot in 2010 drew 4.8 million viewers for the first showing and 7.1 million over the course of the evening.

I love tuning in each week to see what Nucky and teh gang are up to during Prohibition-era Atlantic City. It The show performed well at the recent Emmy Awards, taking away eight awards. This decision is a no-brainer for HBO. The network invested millions in creating the set for the show, and will receive a better return on their investment the longer the show runs on the air.

The cast is one of the best on cable TV, and it includes Steve Buscemi, Kelly Macdonald and Michael Pitt. Terence Winter, Martin Scorsese, Tim Van Patten, Stephen Levinson and Mark Wahlberg serve as executive producers on the show.

Are you hooked on this show as much as I am?
