Matt Damon teaming with John Krasinski on a drama for Warner Bros.
Matt Damon is set to direct his first feature film, a mid-budget drama for Warner Bros. Variety reports that Damon will team with The Office's John Krasinski, who co-wrote and will star in the film. The untitled project will be set up at Krasinski's Sunday Night Productions banner, and has Chris Moore on board to produce.
This is not the long-rumored Father Daughter Time, which was initially speculated back in June when Damon said he was considering a directing project with Krasinski in the cast. This project is something Krasinski has developed with author Dave Eggers (who co-wrote Away We Go). Damon would play "a salesman who arrives in a small town only to have his whole life called into question." At this time, Krasinski's role in the film is not known.
The cameras are not ready to roll on the film just yet. Warner Bros. has not given the greenlight, and individual deals have not been made. The plan would be to shoot the film on the East Coast in the near future, so expect some decisions soon. The project is estimated to have a budget of around $12 million, and the script should be completed within the next month.
