Kate Beckinsale, Hayley Atwell & Diane Kruger Reading for OBLIVION

Kate Beckinsale, Hayley Atwell and Diane Kruger are set to read for the Joseph Kosinski directed sci-fi film Oblivion, which will star Tom Cruise. The three hot actresses are obviously up for a lead female role in the film. There are two decent sized female roles in the film and the other one went to Jessica  Chastain (The Help, Tree of Life). The film has also been referred to as Horizons.

According to Deadline the three actresses will read with Cruise weekend in Pittsburgh where he's currently shooting One Shot. I'd love to see Beckinsale cast in the film, she's a great actress and I love watching her in the movies she's in.

Cruise is playing the role of "Jack, a man who lives in the clouds above Earth and heads to its surface to repair drones that essentially keep the planet safe from an alien race that has all but wiped out humanity." The script calls for two key female leads-- "Victoria, Jack's right-hand woman and lover who serves as his eyes and ears while he's on repair missions, and Julia, his fiancee on Earth before the alien invasion."

The film is based on Kosinski's graphic novel from Radical Publishing that remains titled Oblivion for now, but may change. The pic is being produced by Chernin Entertainment's Peter Chernin and Dylan Clark along with Radical Pictures' Barry Levine and Kosinski, while Radical's Jesse Berger is exec producing. The script was initially drafted by William Monahan and Karl Gadjusek, and has just been polished by Michael Arndt (Little Miss Sunshine).

The PG-13 project was purchased in April after Disney let it go, gave it a $100 million dollar budget, and has set it for a July 19, 2013, release. I hope this turns out to be a great film, I have high hopes for it. We know it will look good because of Tron: Legacy, but will the script be solid? What are your thoughts?
