THE HOBBIT world premiere to be held in New Zealand

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journney will hold it's world premiere in Peter Jackson’s hometown of Wellington, New Zealand in Nov. 2012. The news was revealed by Jackson during a recent interview, where he said how “blown away" he was by world premiere of The Return of the King.

"No one I don't think in the international industry could quite believe how the country got behind that moment," Jackson said, "and I think everyone involved is quite honestly keen to let New Zealand have the premiere of the first Hobbit movie."

The first Hobbit movie will arrive in theaters everywhere on Dec. 13, 2012, with the second, The Hobbit: There And Back Again scheduled for Dec., 2013. Filming is scheduled to continue well into 2012.

The New Zealand production has already finished 110 days of shooting, still to come are another seven weeks of location shoots around NZ, followed in 2012 by another five months of studio shooting. The cast and crew are able to work on other projects because of the large breaks that are scheduled in between each block of filming. This also gives the production time to work on post-production and digital effects.

I would love to go visit New Zealand and see it's beauty for myself first-hand. This is not a surprise that they would want to have the premiere there, after how integral New Zealand is to the film.
