Fox threatens end of THE SIMPSONS if pay cuts not met!

The Simpsons has been on the air for 23 seasons, but this Spring could be it's last. THR is reporting that Fox is threatening to cancel the long-running animated show because of a pay dispute between News Corp.'s Fox and the six principle voice actors of the show. Fox execs are seeking a 45 percent salary cut, according to the report. If these demands are not met, the show will come to an end in the spring.

There have been a number of pay disputes with The Simpsons. In the past Fox has even said that they could replace current cast members with other voice actors if pay disputes don't get resolved. At this time, Fox had no comment about the pay cuts. The lead voice actors are paid $400,000 per episode under their current deal.

A Simpsons network has been talked about recently by Fox president Kevin Reilly:

"We're having conversations with [executive producer] Jim Brooks trying to figure out what the next chapter looks like," he said. "I certainly don't want it to be on my watch where we have to make that change."

I would hate to be the guy that brought the ax down on a show that has created so many memories for people. At the same time, I don't feel bad about the pay cuts, $400,000 is a lot per episode. What are your thoughts?
