JUDGE DREDD Reboot Loses its Director Pete Travis

RantMovie Judge Dredd by Joey Paur

Karl Urban's Judge Dredd movie Dredd, is currently in the post-production process, and it's just been reported that the films director Pete Travis has been asked to step aside. He's no longer invloved with the film and has no say in how it comes together from here on out. I was never fully sold on Travis' directing talent anyway, I wasn't a big fan of his Vantage Point film.

He completed shooting the film earlier this year, but has not been involved with the post-production editing process at all. Apparently the were some heated creative disagreements with the producers and executive overseeing the film project. It eventually got to the point where they asked him to leave. The news comes from three sources involved with the production. The say that the editing room is now being run by the films writer and producer Alex Garland, who may end up asking for a co-director credit on the movie.

Well this isn't good! I had very high hopes for this film, and it makes me wonder whose ideas ere better? The artists or the executives? I love what little I've seen for this film so far, but according to the inside sources "Travis and producers and executives in charge of the production did not see eye-to-eye on footage Travis was delivering. A separate person involved in the film maintained that although Travis is no longer involved in postproduction, he is keeping up with progress via the Internet and has not been pushed aside."

There is also a possibilty that there will need to be reshoots done of the film. I just hope that what's ever being done on this film will make it better. Obviously they think it will, but movie history shows when there's drama like this surrounding a film production, most of the time that film ends up being mediocre or crap.

What do you all think about this?
