Tom Cruise in talks to Join Sci-Fi Film ALL YOU NEED IS KILL

Since this sci-fi film adaptation of the Japanese novel by Hiroshi SakurazakaAll You Need is Kill, which has apparently been retitled We Are Mortals, both Ryan Gosling and Brad Pitt have been mentioned as being looked at as the lead character in the movie. Today we've learned that Tom Cruise is now in talks with Warner Bros. to star in the epic high concept movie, which Doug Liman is attached to direct.

The studio payed out a ton of money for a script written by Dante Harper in April of last year. I really excited about this movie and how it turns out. I love the story concept that combines a Groundhog Day / Source Code plot device with a futuristic alien invasion storyline.  A young, inexperienced private is killed in action, only to be reborn the day before, forced to repeat his fate. Eventually, he becomes a better warrior (that, and other circumstances are changing), which might be the key to altering the outcome.

I'm not on the Tom Cruise hate wagon, I really don't care if people are crazy or not as long as they continue to make good films and entertain us. The seem to care though. After Cruise on on that crazy path it seemed like no one wanted to work with him, and there was a chance his carrer could have died, his movies weren't doing to well after that happened. Obviously the studios aren't very concerned about that anymore and he's once again a wanted man. He's got four new movies coming out including Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol in December, the now-filming One Shot for Paramount, June's Rock of Ages for New Line and the Joseph Kosinski sci-fi epic Oblivion/Horizons for Warner Bros. Now he's in talks for this other huge film.

Whta are your thoughts on Cruise possibly taking on the lead role in this film?

The story of All You Need Is Kill is described as follows:

There’s one thing worse than dying. It’s coming back to do it again and again…When the alien Gitai invade, Keiji Kiriya is just one of many raw recruits shoved into a suit of battle armor and sent out to kill. Keiji dies on the battlefield, only to find himself reborn each morning to fight and die again and again. On the 158th iteration though, he sees something different, something out of place: the female soldier known as the Bitch of War. Is the Bitch the key to Keiji’s escape, or to his final death?
