Taylor Lautner to Star in and Produce Gus Van Sant Indie Film

Twilight star Taylor Lautner has decided to star in an produce a indie film with director Gus Van Sant (Milk). The film is based on a nonfiction article in The New Yorker magazine that Lautner has the rights to. This is no surprise to me, people have torn apart Lautner's acting ability, and his latest big budget film Abduction did terrible at the box office proving that this kid does not have the star power that the studio thought he did. So the young actor is out to try and prove to everyone that he can actually act by staring in a small low-budget indie film with a talented director.

There are not many details on the films story right now, but an official announcement will be coming soon with information on who will write the Van Sant directed film. I can't help but wish Launtner the best of luck with this movie, because depending on the story, character and acting ability this could make or break his filmmking future. The actor is still attached to star in Universal Pictures Stretch Armstrong, which should just die before they waste any more money on it.

According to THR Lautner "is said to be determined to work only with top directors and writers from now on as he strives to define himself as an actor." I rmember when Leonardo DiCaprio said the same thing, and he ended up being a hell of a great actor, but in all honesty DiCaprio always actually had a great talent for acting.

What are your thoughts on Lautner going the indie film route.
