THE WAR OF WARS Short Documentary - In Honor of Veterans Day

I have the upmost respect for any man or woman who has served for their country. As you know today is Veterans Day, and I think many of us know someone who has been at war. Here's a great documentary called The War of Wars that was created by producer Nick Reed in honor of all young men who have fought and died for us. It takes us on a journey through one of the most deadly and bloody battles in human history. This can be hard to watch, but I think it gives us more insight and understanding of the sacrifice of a soldier.

Here's a must read note from Reed:

“Anyone who has ever looked into the glazed eyes of a soldier dying on the battlefield, will think hard before starting a war”
- Otto Von Bismarck

I was developing a World War I documentary project, when I came across diaries from soldiers from the trenches of 1916 and it became clear that War today has not changed for the soldier. Reading the diaries made me understand that whether you support the notion of war, that we must understand what war does to the young men who have fought. Please watch and send this link to as many people as you can.

November 11th has many names—Veterans, Armistice, Remembrance day—but for most people it has become a global holiday devoid of real context. [The Battle of] Somme attempts to depict both the insanity and scale of a single battle that was the greatest battle the world has ever known that in the end claimed well over 1 million dead. It is a collection of never-before-seen stereo images and film materials that bring context to this almost unimaginably large conflict as told in the words of those who fought and died over yards of earth in the first “modern” war. Somme will release for veterans day and 50% of the proceeds from the film are being donated to soldiers and their families in need of medical support services who like their compatriots of nearly a century ago have also too been forgotten. Please email a link you your friends. This film is to try and explain is some small way what it is like to go to war. We ask you to think of veterans and what they have done for all of us.

Please send this film to all your friends and spread the word. Veterans deserve our respect and understanding.

Sincerely,
Nick Reed

Watch the short documentary and please tell us us what you think.
