Tim Burton Looking to Direct MISS PEREGRINE'S HOME FOr PECULIAR CHILDREN

Movie Tim Burton by Joey Paur

Back in March Fox picked up a book by written by Ransom Riggs called Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children. Today it's being reported that Tim Burton is looking to take on the film project as its director, and it seems like a great story for him to tell.

The story centers around 16-year-old Jacob, who stumbled upon a home for children with strange powers on a remote island off the coast of Wales. The description of the book that I've provided below, was enough to spark my interest in this film project. I love this kind of stuff, and I'm looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

A mysterious island.

An abandoned orphanage.

A strange collection of very curious photographs.

It all waits to be discovered in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, an unforgettable novel that mixes fiction and photography in a thrilling reading experience. As our story opens, a horrific family tragedy sets sixteen-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar ChildrenAs Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a deserted island for good reason. And somehow—impossible though it seems—they may still be alive.

A spine-tingling fantasy illustrated with haunting vintage photography, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children will delight adults, teens, and anyone who relishes an adventure in the shadows.

I would love to see Burton bring this story to the big screen it would fit his filmmaking style perfectly. At the same time I can also see Guillermo del Toro bring this story to on the big screen as well. The book has yet to come out, it won't be released until June 7th 2011.
