Brad Bird discusses MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: GHOST PROTOCOL - 2 New Images

I'm already convinced that Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol is going to be an extremely entertaining movie. I'm way excited for this flick, and it's director Brad Bird recently talked to LA Times about the movie, and a couple new images were released that I thought I'd share with you as well. Here's what Bird had to say...

On his desire to continue making animated films:

I’m not like some animation directors and like, ‘Thank God I’m out of animation and sitting at the adult’s table, I’m tired of sitting at the kid’s table,’ I have other ideas I’d love to do in animation. My ideal career from here would be to jump back and forth and let the project dictate what medium I work in. To me it’s all storytelling.

On his favorite acting moment in the first film:

One of my favorite moments acting-wise were the scenes he did with Vanessa Redgrave; he kind of came alive in a slightly different way. You could tell he had a lot of respect for Redgrave and knew that he had to be on his game because she was going to get every drop out of her part of the scene, so he better get every drop of his. There was a playfulness to those scenes together that I really liked. When you see the [new] film, it’s a little more playful than the other ‘Mission: Impossible’ films — hopefully.

You can tell in the trailers that have been released for this film that it's definitely more playfull than the previous films. There's some incredibly fun stuff here, and I'm sure we've only seen the tip of the iceberg. The fourth badass looking Mission: Impossible film stars Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Paula Patton, Josh Holloway, Michael Nyqvist, Vladimir Mashkov, Lea Seydoux and Anil Kapoor. It opens everywhere on Dec. 21st and, five days before that, it will get the big ass IMAX release.

Here's the synopsis:

The IMF is shut down when it's implicated in a global terrorist bombing plot. Ghost Protocol is initiated and Ethan Hunt and his rogue new team must go undercover to clear their organization's name. No help, no contact, off the grid. You have never seen a mission grittier and more intense than this.
