Jason Statham's HUMMINGBIRD to be funded by IM Global
IM Global is set to fund Jason Statham's next film. Deadline reports that they will fully fund Hummingbird, which will be the directorial debut of screenwriter Steven Knight (Eastern Promises). Statham will play "a damaged ex-Special Forces soldier trapped in London’s criminal underworld but he becomes an avenging angel when he is able to assume another identity."
Filming is slated to start early next year in London. Hummingbird will be produced by Paul Webster and Tracey Seaward, with a budget $20 million. IM Global worked with Statham on Safe previously. I like seeing Statham play characters that are flawed, but end up doing good in the end. Eastern Promises is great, so lets hope that Hummingbird will have some of the same tones.
