Top 10 Movies I am Thankful For
It being Thanksgiving I wanted to create a Top 10 list of movies that I am thankful for and why. Of course there are several other films I'm thankful for, but these really have a special place in my heart. Go through the list below, and let me know what movies you are thankful for!
The Lord of the Rings
Reason I'm thankful for it:
This is a book I've always wanted to see brought to life on the big screen, and Peter Jackson did it in a way that no one else could have pulled off. I don't think these movise could have been any better.
Braveheart
Reason I'm thankful for it:
This movie upped my standard of epic filmmaking, and it's the film I now judge all epic historical films against.
Ghostbusters
Reason I'm thankful for it:
Not only is It one of my favorite comedies of all time, but I would have never been inspired to choose Venkman as my pen name on Geektyrant.
Enter the Dragon
Reason I'm thankful for it:
I love martial arts films, and this movie brought martial arts films to the American mainstream. It's also set the standard that all other martial arts films are judged by.
Star Wars
Reason I'm thankful for it:
The movie simply changed Hollywood and how they made movies forever. It opened up a whole new world of filmmaking, movies are better now because of this film.
The Shawshank Redemption
Reason I'm thankful for it:
This is the one movie I can watch over and over and over again and never get tired of it. Not many films have that power.
Underworld
Reason I'm thankful for it:
Kate Bekinsale in tight black leather... nuff said.
Batman Begins
Reason I'm thankful for it:
This is the movie that breathed new life into comic book movies, and showed people that comic book movies could be very cool and taken seriously. Before Batman Begins Hollywood was pumping out crap, now the majority of comic book movies being made are awesome.
Time Bandits
Reason I'm thankful for it:
Because my childhood would not have been complete without it.
Jaws
Reason I'm thankful for it:
Steven Spielberg's awesome talent was introduced to the world, and the success of this film put him in a position to make some of the greatest movies ever made.
