Simon West to Direct Racing Adventure DUST AND GLORY

Movie Simon West by Joey Paur

Con Air director Simon West is currently in negotiations to direct a racing car movie adventure called Dust and Glory. The film will be adapted from a novel written by Evan Green and the script will be written by Robert Lewis Galinsky

The story is described as a cross between Mad Max and Jewel of the Nile. It's a romance adventure project that is set during the 1950s’ Redex trials, which covered more than 10,000 miles of some of the toughest racing terrain in Australia, if not the world." The story will follow the rivalry between an American hotshot and an Australian legend.

Simon West most recently directed The Expendables 2 and also directed films such as The Generals Daughter, Tomb Raider, The Mechanic, and more. This seems like a film project that completely fits the directing talent of West and it would be great if he ended up taking on the project. This movie has the potential to be awesome. The story seems to have a classic movie feel to it. What do you all think?

Here's a description of the book:

A stirring fictional account of the world's toughest car race. The book looks at what might have happened had there been a fourth Redex Around Australia Reliability Trials after those of 1953, 1954 and 1955. 'Twenty-one days and 10, 000 miles of desert tracks, driving rain, flooded rivers and icy mountain trails, blowouts and breakdowns, subterfuge and sabotage.
