THE RAID set for release from Sony Pictures Classics in the Spring

One of the most awesome looking movies is set for release from an unlikely source. Deadline reports that Sony Pictures Classics is set to release Gareth Evans martial arts film The Raid. The film received a ton of buzz after it won the Midnight Madness Award at the Toronto Film Festival. The film is currently rumored to be heading to Sundance with a fresh new soundtrack from Linkin Park.
This is definitely not the typical release for Sony Pictures Classics, who released awards contenders like Take Shelter and Midnight In Paris. Sony Pictures Worldwide had luckily picked up distribution rights fro the film at Cannes only after seeing partial footage from the movie. Screen Gems is set to handle the remake, and the original arrives next spring. Evans recently headed back to Jakarta to shoot a larger-scale film that incorporates the actors and storylines from The Raid.
