Ridley Scott says new BLADE RUNNER likely a sequel

When we first reported on the new Blade Runner project I had mixed emotions, until Ridley Scott was announced as being involved. Then the biq question on everyone's mind was if the film would be a prequel, sequel or a reboot. Scott has now revealed in an interview with the Wall Street Journal that the project will "likely be a sequel."

Here is what Scott had to say about the project:

I think I’m close to finding a writer that might be able to help me deliver. We’re quite a long way in, actually.

A writer has not been hired on the project so it will likely not be coming to theaters until 2014. I am still not sold at this point on the need for this film, but that may change over time.
