Tom Cruise to star in ALL YOU NEED IS KILL

Tom Cruise is set to star in Doug Liman’s adaptation of All You Need Is Kill. Variety reports that Cruise will star in the film from Warner Bros. based on the Japanese novel by Hiroshi Sakurazaka that features art by Yoshitoshi ABe.

Here is the description of the story:
There's one thing worse than dying. It's coming back to do it again and again... When the alien Gitai invade, Keiji Kiriya is just one of many raw recruits shoved into a suit of battle armor and sent out to kill. Keiji dies on the battlefield, only to find himself reborn each morning to fight and die again and again. On the 158th iteration though, he sees something different, something out of place: the female soldier known as the B*tch of War. Is the B*tch the key to Keiji's escape, or to his final death?
Dante Harper wrote the script and Jody Harold did a rewrite to fit Cruise’s age. The deal has not been officially signed, but it looks to be a go. Cruise is filming One Shot for Christopher McQuarrie, and then moves on to Joseph Kosinski's Oblivion. Filming on All You Need Is Kill is expected to begin in late 2012.

I am looking forward to seeing Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol and all of his upcoming projects sound as though his career is back on track. What are your thoughts?
