Real Life 13 Foot Working GUNDAM Being Built

Tech by Joey Paur

I honestly never thought I would see the day where we would see a real life working Gundam mech robot. Hajime Sakamoto has taken the challenge upon himself to make all of our giant mech robot dreams come true. He's currently in the early stages of building a 13-foot humanoid robot that would include a place for a human pilot.

Sakamoto is currently trying to find more contractors and sponsors to help finish his project. So far they've only completely one of the robots legs. They've still got a long way to go, but at least they are trying to make it happen.

If this thing ever gets built and is fully functional, Sakamoto wants to follow it up with a 26 foot Gundam, and then wants to move on and build a 59 foot Gundam, which would be the same height as one of the anime mobile suits that we've all become familiar with over the years. How freakin' cool would that be! There's no doubt this first robot is going to look pretty sketchy, but they have to start somewhere. It will eventually look awesome.

We actually see this thing brought to life, we just have to be patient. For more information on this epic project you can go to their YouTube, or blog, which is all in Japanese. What are your thoughts on this real life Gundam being built?
