Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood to score Paul Thomas Anderson's THE MASTER

Paul Thomas Anderson’s long-delayed film The Master, is finally in post production. The film is reportedly inspired by the life and work of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard, and stars Philip Seymour Hoffman as the title character, with Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams, Laura Dern leading the ensemble cast. Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood is set to score the film, according to /Film. Greenwood was responsible for scoring Anderson’s epic There Will Be Blood.

The news was revealed by Oliver Weindling, who is the founder of record label Babel. He recently stated “Zed-U recorded part of soundtrack for Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead last week. Film (by Paul Thomas Anderson) to appear in 2013,” via his Twitter.

The Master is set for release in 2013 from The Weinstein Company after it debuts at Cannes. The release date in the tweet above is likely speculation based on a target release date.

As a fan of Philip Seymour Hoffman, I am interested in seeing him in just about anything. He plays “a man who returns after witnessing the horrors of WWII and tries to rediscover who he is in post-war America. He creates a belief system, something that catches on with other lost souls.”
What are your thoughts on this scoring news and the film itself?
