New ride based on the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN films being developed by Dinsey

Disney shared the first lo-res image of their new Shanghai Disneyland park last week. Disney and More noticed something what appears to be a mountain with a big water drop. Fans of the parks have speculated that this could be a new Pirates of the Caribbean ride based on the film series, and not the original Disneyland attraction.

Disney previously announced that they were working on a ride for Hong Kong Disneyland. You can see in the concept art from Tim Delaney below (via Micechat) that it is kind of a hybrid of Splash Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean.

Splash Mountain is based on Disney’s Song of the South, which has not been released on modern home video due to sterotypical depiction of African-Americans within the live action sequences of the film. So this speculation from fans is not too far fetched. Combining it with a new Pirates of the Caribbean Ride sounds like an ingenious way of doing this. This is only speculation and nothing is official currently.

There is also speculation of the possibility of another attraction being designed for the park based on TRON. That is also just a rumor for now.

I am not a fan of Disneyland, I much prefer Disney World. What are your thoughts of this news?
