Tobe Hooper set to Direct Arabian Horror Film DJINN

Movie Horror by Joey Paur

Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Poltergeist director Tobe Hooper has signed on to direct a Arabian horror movie called Djinn. Unfortunately Hooper really hasn't made a great movie since Poltergeist.

The haunted house thriller follows a young Emirati couple who return home from the U.S. and discover that their new apartment in a luxury high-rise built on the site of an abandoned fishing village is also home to malevolent beings known as Djinn.

Hooper had this to say in a statement:

Simply put, this movie will scare everyone, no matter where you live or what you believe in.

Hopefully the movie he makes actually mirrors his statement. It would be awesome to see Hopper make another great horror film.

The film is scheduled to start shooting in the United Arab Emirates in March. According to THR, "Emirati director Nayla Al Khaja will work as a cultural consultant and shadow Hooper on the set and train with him in preparation to helm her first feature length horror film." So it looks like he's also being paid to trailer a new director while he makes the film.

What are your thoughts on Hooper directing a new horror film?
