RASL Comic Book getting Big Screen Adaptation

Movie by Joey Paur

Lionel Wigram, the man who introduced Warner Bros. to the Sherlock Holmes graphic novel that become a film franchise, has acquired the rights to another comic book called RASL to adapt into a feature film.

The comic is a black-and-white science fiction noir series written and drawn by Jeff Smith (Bone). The story follows an ex-military scientist-turned-art thief who jumps to parallel universes to steal treasured pieces of art. During these trips, he gets discovered by his former employer, and finds himself trying to protect the world's most dangerous secret.

Wigram had this to say in a statement,

We'll team with a writer and figure out how to adapt it to the screen and hopefully it will become a big movie franchise for Warner Bros.

Here's a little more info from the comic series:

RASL is written and drawn as a sci-fi noir. It draws influences from real life events, people and places in addition to Southwestern Native American culture and hardboiled crime fiction. The art style is high contrast black and white and is notably more detailed and "human" than Smith's previous work, Bone. The story follows a central story, but is narrated extensively through RASL's thoughts. Smith also utilizes flashbacks to tell the story of RASL's past.

What are your thoughtson this comic getting a big screen adaptation?
