PRIDE AND PREJUDICE AND ZOMBIES Movie May Be Directed by Seth Grahame-Smith

Lionsgate has been on the hunt for a new director to develop the film project Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, based on the book written by Seth Grahame-Smith. It's being reported that the studio is actually looking into having Grahame-Smith and his producing partner David Katzenberg direct the film, which is surprising. This would be the first time either of these guys diected a feature film. If the name David Katzenberg sounds familiar it's because he's the son of DreamWorks Animation head Jefferey Katzenberg.

The last we heard, Craig Gillespie, the director of Showtime's The United States of Tara and 2007’s indie drama Lars and the Real Girl, was in talks to take on the highly anticipated zombie film project. That obviously didn't pan out if they are broadening their search.

I think it's cool that they might give Grahame-Smith a shot at turning his own story into a film. He knows the world he created better than anybody else does, and there's no doubt he has a vision for how he wants the film to be made. But do they have what it takes to make a great film? We may end up finding out.

The book is an expanded version of the the Jane Austen classic. It tells the story of a woman’s quest for love and independence amid the outbreak of a deadly virus that turns the undead into vicious killers.

What do you think of the possibility of Grahame-Smith directing the movie to his own story?
