Jon Favreau's MAGIC KINGDOM to be Written By Michael Chabon?

Movie Jon Favreau by Joey Paur

Pulitzer Prize-winning author and scriptwriter Michael Chabon (Spider-Man 2, Wonder Boys) has recently been talking with director Jon Favreau about the possibility of coming on to write the script for his next film Magic Kingdom for Disney.

The movie is going to be an epic family adventure set in ithe Disneyland theme park with the possibilty of connecting to other parks worldwide.

A couple years ago Battlestar Galactica TV series creator and writer Ronald Moore wrote a script based on his own idea for the project, and the initial plot for this film, but Disney wanted to take it in a new direction. Now they are looking to bring on a new writer to take on the challenge.

According to THR "Chabon and Favreau have talked about the project and a potential team-up on Kingdom. No offer has been made and obviously meetings with Disney execs would need to take place." If the talks between the two talents went well, then we should expect to see Chabon write this movie. This wouldn't be the first time he's worked with Disny either, he wrote the script for two of their upcoming films, Snow and the Seven and  John Carter of Mars.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this movie ends up being developed. There's no doubt Disney is going to go all out on this one, with money, effects, and talent.
