24 Movie coming in 2012?

According to 24 star Kiefer Sutherland 24 The Movie will be released in theaters some time in 2012. I don't see any reason why we shouldn't believe Sutherland, after all not only is he Jack Bauer, but he's a producer on the project actively working on making it happen. He previously said that Tony Scott had expressed some interest in directing the movie, but as of right now, no one has been officially signed on. If Scott did end up taking it, I think he's do a great job.

A script for the film was turned in last year by screenwriter Billy Ray, but shortly after the project was said to have been shelved. Then Sutherland started doing interviews saying that the project wasn't dead, that it is in the works, and now he gives us the year the movie will be released. They won't be using Ray's script but Sutherland says,

Billy did a fantastic job and there are aspects of that story [that will remain]. I couldn’t be more thrilled.

The more Sutherland talks about 24 The Movie, the more excited I get. It sounds like this is actually going to happen!
