Concept Art for Pixar's BRAVE and Reese Witherspoon Drops Out
Pixar's thirteenth CG animated film Brave is currently deep in production preparing for a June 22nd 2012 release date. This film is going to be different from any of the other pixar films for the fact that this will be the studio's first fairy tale adventure type movie that takes place in Scotland. The movie revolved around a female character that was going to be voiced by Reese Witherspoon, but EW confirms that the actress is no longer a part of the project due to scheduling conflicts. The character will now be played by the Scottish actress Kelly Macdonald (No Country for Old Men, Boardwalk Empire), who is absolutley perfect casting. I think she's a much better choice than Whitherspoon.
Here's a run down of the story from EW:
Brave is set in the mystical Scottish Highlands, where Merida is the princess of a kingdom ruled by King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson). An unruly daughter and an accomplished archer, Merida one day defies a sacred custom of the land and inadvertently brings turmoil to the kingdom. In an attempt to set things right, Merida seeks out an eccentric old Wise Woman (Julie Walters) and is granted an ill-fated wish. Also figuring into Merida’s quest — and serving as comic relief — are the kingdom’s three lords: the enormous Lord MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd), the surly Lord Macintosh (Craig Ferguson), and the disagreeable Lord Dingwall (Robbie Coltrane).
