Greg Mottola directing Aaron Sorkin pilot for HBO

Greg Mottola is set to direct the HBO Aaron Sorkin pilot. His third film, Paul, is currently in theaters. Mottola has also directed such awesome films as Adventureland and Superbad. He has worked with HBO before on the Lisa Kudrow series The Comeback, Arrested Development and Judd Apatow's Undeclared.

According to Variety, the pilot will take a "behind-the-scenes look at a cable news network with Jeff Daniels in negotiations to star as the host of his own political show who, from the network perspective, can be difficult to handle." At this time, no other casting has been made. To prepare for this pilot, Sorkin worked with a number of cable personalities, including Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews, to get a sense of what a typical day is like at MSNBC.
