MADAGASCAR's penguins to get their own feature film

It looks like the penquins from the Madagascar franchise will be getting a spinoff from DreamWorks Animation. Madagascar 3 hits theaters this Summer and now the studio has brought Alan J. Schoolcraft and Brent Simons (Megamind) on board to provide the screenplay. In addition to their appearance in the three Madagascar films, the penguins have been the subject of both animated shorts and a Nickelodeon TV series. 

DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg confirmed that a fourth Madagascar film is already in the planning stages to finish off the series. THR does not know whether this Penguins feature would take the place of that project or if both will be developed concurrently.
