Shawn Levy to direct Kodachrome road-trip drama for DreamWorks
Shawn Levy continues to be a director in high deman in Hollywood. He has not signed on to direct a new film based on a pitch to be penned by Jonathan Tropper that will center around the demise of Kodak’s Kodachrome film. Deadline reports that DreamWorks is close to picking up the script that would be a vehicle for Levy. In case you were not aware, Kodak stopped developing Kodachrome slide film, one of the most popular brands in the Kodak family. More and more photogs have switched over to digital, using film less and less. Dwayne’s Photo, an outlet in Kansas, was the last remaining developers of Kodachrome in the country and at the end of December they no longer accepted the format for processing.
The film is inspired by the NY Times article, “For Kodachrome Fans, Road Ends at Photo Lab in Kansas” that centers around "a father-son roadtrip as they race across the country to get their (presumably very important) photos developed."
