Kristen Stewart Cast as Snow White in SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN

Earlier last month it was reported that Twilight star Kristen Stewart was in negotiations to take on the role of Snow White in Universal Pictures live-action adaptation of Snow White and the Huntsman. Today it's official, the actress will play Snow White opposite Viggo Mortensen as the Huntsman and Charlize Theron as the Evil Queen.

Commercial director Rupert Sanders will direct the film from a script written by Evan Daugherty. The story features an expanded role for the Huntsman, who in the original story lets Snow White go after being ordered to kill her in the woods. In Daugherty's script, the Huntsman is haunted by a white wolf that killed his wife, and there's a pervasive sadness about the character that makes the void in his life feel quite real.

He'll be chained to Snow White for part of the live-action movie as the duo make their escape from a pair of bounty hunters. The Huntsman then serves as a mentor who teaches the teenage Snow White how to fight against her evil step-mother, Ravenna. And don't worry -- a handsome prince is still the love interest."

This could actually end up being a good flick. The biggest selling point for me is Viggo Mortenson, whose one of my favorite actors. Snow White is scheduled to start shooting in August.

What do you all think about Stewart starring in the film?
