Crazy Heart Director to take on THE LOW DWELLER

Movie Relativity Media by Joey Paur

Crazy Heart director Scott Cooper has been hired by Relativity Media to rewrite and direct one of the most popular spec scripts of 2008 called The Low Dweller. Four studios were bidding on the spec and Relativity Media beat them out and ended up paying $650,000 against $1.1 million to the writer Brad Ingelsby, who at the time was living with his parents in Pennsylvania and working for his dad's insurance business. according to Deadline "that deal came with an attachment from Leonardo DiCaprio to star and Ridley Scott to direct." How freakin' cool is that!? Obviously Scott is no longer directing, but DiCaprio is still attached as a producer.

The film is a dark drama set in 1986 Indiana. The story follows Slim, a man released after serving years in prison for murder who wants only to follow through on his promise to marry his long-suffering girlfriend. But when he discovers his brother has been murdered after getting involved in a gambling racket, his goals change and he avenges the murder.

This sounds like a pretty intense movie. I thought Crazy Heart was a great film, and it will be interesting to see what Cooper has envisioned for The Low Dwellers.
