Michael Shannon talks about being cast as General Zod in MAN OF STEEL

Yesterday we reported that Michael Shannon had been officially cast in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel. Today we have a video of Shannon speaking at the RiverRun International Film Festival, where he talks about getting cast in the part of General Zod. Here is an excerpt from the conversation:

"It's ridiculous! It just came out of nowhere. I'm talking to my agent and she goes, 'How about Superman?' 'What?' The idea that I would ever be in 'Superman'. 'Are you serious?'"

He also revealed that he was not allowed to read a script, instead Snyder detailed the whole film for him. It was a month-long process that included screentest opposite Henry Cavill. Shannon had this to say about Cavill, "I think this guy'll be alright." He also talks about having seen the past Superman films and being an admirer of Christopher Reeve's performance.
