Roman Polanski to Direct Real-Life Murder Mystery called TRUE CRIME?

Movie Roman Polanski by Joey Paur

It looks like the next film Roman Polanski is going to direct will be a film called True Crime based on a real-life case that was detailed in a New Yorker article written by David Grann. The story is set in Poland and recounts the unexplained murder of Dariusz Janiszewski, the owner of a small advertising business, who it seemed had no enemies at all. The mans body was found in the Oder river in December 2000. The mystery of Janiszewski's death went unsolved for a long time until detective Jacek Wroblewski tracked Janiszewski's missing cellphone to an eBay auction. The seller was Krystian Bala, a Polish intellectual whose sado-sexual novel Amok had been published after Janiszewski's death, and featured a plot that seemed rather to parallel the real-life killing...

Whoa, this seems like a pretty freakin' intense story, one that is perfect for Polanski to bring to life. These are the kinds of stories he's great at telling on film. It's a very Hitchcockian style story. The screenplay is already finished and ready to go. It was written by Jeremy Brock, who also wrote the film The Last King of Scotland which was an incredible film and script. Oh yeah, I should probably also mention that Brett Ratner is a producer on the film project. At least he's not directing it.

Polanski isn't officially signed on to the film yet, but the film is ready to go, and it seems like something he would jump at the chance to do. I strongly suggest you read the article that this movie is based on, it's a pretty crazy story. This will make for a really good and intense thriller.
