VUDU announces streaming service

TechMovie by

The instant streaming race just got a little bigger today. Vudu announced they are launching a a video on demand service, making its film and television library available directly on the company's website. Vudu's announcement has intensified the fight by companies for instant video dollars. Despite Netflix being the top provider of streaming entertainmnet, Amazon and Hulu continue to improve their film offerings and other smaller services have launched this year alone.

Here is what Edward Lichty, General Manager of VUDU said in a statement,“Customers will be able to enjoy movies instantly and easily at VUDU.com with no additional hardware or software download required. This launch is part of our overall commitment to provide the VUDU service through as many points of access as possible."

I just watched Hobo With A Shotgun on Vudu last week and I was very impressed with the quality of the picture. One cool thing about Vudu in case you did not know. Whenever a film says or we list on here that at film is available On Demand before in theaters, it will almost always be available on Vudu. I loved being able to watch it through my PlayStation 3.

What are your thoughts on this news? Have you used Vudu?
