Movie trailer and photos for THE HELP
Here is the trailer and some new photos for The Help. The Tate Taylor-scripted and directed adaptation of Kathryn Stockett‘s novel stars Emma Stone, Viola Davis, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Octavia Spencer. The story follows "Skeeter (Stone), a young college grad who, incensed by the treatment of the black women who work as maids in her hometown of Jackson, Mississippi, decides to write a book from the perspective of ‘the help.’ The results, as you might expect in Jackson in the ’60s, are explosive."
Here is the the official synopsis of the novel:
The Help stars Emma Stone (“Easy A”) as Skeeter, Academy Award®–nominated Viola Davis (“Doubt”) as Aibileen and Octavia Spencer as Minny—three very different, extraordinary women in Mississippi during the 1960s, who build an unlikely friendship around a secret writing project that breaks societal rules and puts them all at risk. From their improbable alliance a remarkable sisterhood emerges, instilling all of them with the courage to transcend the lines that define them, and the realization that sometimes those lines are made to be crossed—even if it means bringing everyone in town face-to-face with the changing times.
The Help looks like a nice period film with a touching and powerful story. I think the cast is great, Stone Howard and Spencer Davis are all solid actors. The costuming also looks very well done, which to me is very important for a period film. Here is the trailer (via AOL):
