Glimmer and Marvel Have Been Cast in THE HUNGER GAMES
The Hunger Games casting continues with the addition of Leven Rambin to take on the role of Glimmer in the story. This is District 1's combatant who's pitted against District 12's Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) in the battle to the death competition. Rambin comes from the world of TV, appearing in shows such as One Tree Hill, Wizards of Waverly Place, CSI: Miami, Private Practice and Grey's Anatomy. and was a regular on Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Jack Quaid the son of Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan was also cast in the film as the character Marvel, also from District 1.
Rambin and Quaid will also join the previously cast actors Dayo Okeniyi and Amandla Stenberg had been cast in the roles of Thresh and Rue, respectively. The cast also includes Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson. Hemsworth has been cast as Gale Hawthorne and Hutcherson is set to play Peeta Mellark. Elizabeth Banks was most recently cast in the role of Effie Trinket in the Gary Ross' directed film.
Here's Katrina's description of the character Glimmer,
Katniss described Glimmer to be tall,with flowing blonde hair and emerald eyes. She was described as beautiful or downright sexy. Katniss described her interview dress as gold and provocative. Katniss thought that even though Glimmer was smart, she was incompetent with a bow and arrow. It is not known if she excelled in another weapon, but it is a good possibility her skill was something other than a bow and arrow. Katniss also thought that Glimmer was an extremely stupid name, as most names from District One tend to be a little over the top.
Rambin seems to fit the description, I think shes a good choice for the role.

Marvel was strong and rather tall , like all the other Careers. Much like Cato, Marvel was ruthless and brutal, though much unlike his fellow Career, Marvel seemed to be rather smart, he being the one to propose keeping Peeta in the Career Alliance so he could lead them to Katniss. He, and Clove, were also the two who seemed to calm down Cato most often when he got antagonized or lost control of himself.
Quaid seems to fit that description as well, he is pretty tall, but I have no idea of how good of an actor he is.I don't think he's done anything. He doesn't look ruthless and brutal. There's a lot more Hunger Games casting to come so stay tuned.
The Hunger Games takes place in the futuristic ruins of North America, which crumbled and was replaced by a Capitol and 12 districts. Each district is forced to supply 2 teenagers, between 12 and 18. They participate in The Hunger Games, a televised reality series that pits the contestants against one another in a battle to the death. The heroine is 16-year old Katniss Everdeen, a skilled hunter who’s adept with a bow and arrow. She replaces her younger sister, who was chosen in a lottery. She is joined by a baker's son who is also chosen from her dirt poor home district.
The Hunger Games is set to be released on March 23rd 2012.
