Isla Fisher in talks to join THE GREAT GATSBY

Isla Fisher is in talks to join Baz Lurhmann’s 3D adaptation of The Great Gatsby being made by Warner Bros. She would play the role of Myrtle, "a married woman having an affair with Buchanan. She is later killed by a speeding car, an event that leads to the book’s tragic ending." Fisher will join Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan. We recetly reported that Ben Affleck is in negotiations to join the film, which is eyeing a late summer start.

DiCaprio will take on the role of Jay Gatsby (Robert Redford starred in the original) and Maguire plays Nick Carraway (Sam Waterston in the original). Mulligan is playing Gatsby's love, Daisy Buchanan, who is married to a wealthy chap named Tom Buchanan, whom Affleck would play if his deal makes. The script was written by Luhrmann and Craig Pearce.

Fisher last appeared in Burke and HareJohn Landis’ period horror thriller that also starred Simon Pegg and Andy Serkis. She also had a voice role in Paramount’s animated film Rango and will be heard again in DreamWorks Animation’s Rise of the Guardians. I think that this cast continues to get better and better. Although I am skeptical of how this film will look in 3D, I am excited to see Luhrmann's take on the film. I loved the original and highly recommend you watch it.
