John Travolta and Uma Thurman to Reunite in Oliver Stone's SAVAGES
Director Oliver Stone is putting together one hell of a great cast for his next feature film Savages. The director is currently in talks with John Travolta and Uma Thurman to be in the film which would reunited the two actors who worked together in the classic film Pulp Fiction and Be Cool. Travolta will play a character named Denis, a burned out DEA agent, and Thurman will play a character named Paqu in the story. I was also confirmed that Blake Lively (The Town) was officially cast as O, the daughter of Paqu.
The film is based on a book by Don Winslow, and it was adapted by Winslow and Shane Salerno. The story follows "two friends from Laguna Beach who share the same girlfriend and a thriving business growing and distributing the best-quality pot on the planet. When they resist being muscled by a Mexican drug cartel , the girl is kidnapped and the ransom is every cent they've made for the last five years. They agree to pay but hatch an alternate plan to get her back, get revenge, and then get lost."
Taylor Kitsch (Friday Night Lights) is set to play the role of former Navy SEAL Chon, Aaron Johnson (kick-Ass) takes on the role of Ben, Salma Hayek will take on the role of Mexican cartel queen-pin Elena, and Benicio Del Toro plays a vicious cartel enforcer named Lado. There are still several other roles that need to be filled.
This film is bring on a ton of talent. This should end up being a solid movie, it will be cool to see how it all comes together. Production is scheduled to begin in early July.
For a bit more information, here's the description from the book:
Part-time environmentalist and philanthropist Ben and his ex-mercenary buddy Chon run a Laguna Beach–based marijuana operation, reaping significant profits from their loyal clientele. In the past when their turf was challenged, Chon took care of eliminating the threat. But now they may have come up against something that they can’t handle—the Mexican Baja Cartel wants in, and sends them the message that a "no" is unacceptable. When they refuse to back down, the cartel escalates its threat, kidnapping Ophelia, the boys’ playmate and confidante. O’s abduction sets off a dizzying array of ingenious negotiations and gripping plot twists that will captivate readers eager to learn the costs of freedom and the price of one amazing high.
