SILENT HILL: REVELATION Director Makes His State of the Movie Address

Wow! We are posting a lot of news this week for Silent Hill: Revelation 3D and now we have kind of a "State of the Movie Address" from director Michael J. Bassett from his blog.  This movie is definitely shaping up to be bigger and badder than the first and here's hoping I'm right! Anyway in this latest entry, Bassett addresses the film's current status, he also talks about all of the behind-the-scenes sneak peeks we've been getting from the set and he gets in fan boy mode about working with Malcolm McDowell and Sean Bean.  Production is wide-ass open in Toronto and I hope the cool stuff keeps leaking out!

Anyway, just a very quick post to say it’s all going pretty well. It continues to be a struggle to physically make the movie but the team is holding strong and I think you’re going to really dig some of the images we’re getting. Adelaide continues to impress as Heather. She’s so focussed on character and performance, it really brings greater depth to the whole show.

Last week we had Malcolm McDowell in for a little while to play Leonard Wolf. Clearly when we meet him he’s not in his monstrous form but your going to get a kick out of why he’s there and what he does. It was a huge thrill getting Malcolm on the show. He regaled us with fabulous stories and was a treat to work with. Days like those, no matter how long and intense, are always memorable.

Sean Bean is back for the rest of his work. Having a good time working with him. He’s a typically down to earth and wryly humourous northerner. A straight talker and great technical film actor too. I really enjoyed the first episode of ‘Game of Thrones’ and it’s fab to see Kit Harington and Sean on screen together in that. Also pleased it’s got picked up for a second season – I’d love to direct an episode.

On another note, I see that there are various photos leaked from the production over the internet. That’s the problem with location shooting – there’s just no way of keeping things secret. I’m not going to confirm or deny anything that you may have surmised from what you think they reveal but I think they mostly made the production look quite good.

Plot:

For years, Heather Mason (Clemmons) and her father have been on the run, always one step ahead of dangerous forces that she doesn’t fully understand. Now on the eve of her 18th birthday, plagued by terrifying nightmares and the disappearance of her father, Heather discovers she's not who she thinks she is. The revelation leads her deeper into a demonic world that threatens to trap her in Silent Hill forever.
