Details revealed for Jodie Foster's ELSYIUM role
Small details have emerged about Jodie Foster's role in Neil Blomkamp's Elsyium. As usual, we have not had many details to report on the film because Blomkamp keeps plot details secret as he did with District 9. We have not even been able to find a synopsis for the film. The cast includes, Matt Damon, Sharlto Copley and Wagner Moura (Elite Squad) will play the villain.Foster has been cast in what has been thought as a smaller supporting role.
In a recent article about The Beaver in the LA Times, says that Foster plays “a head of state on an alien planet” in Elysium. This news begs us to wonder how her role factors into the movie. A year ago, Blomkamp talked about his vision for Elysium and said, “It is science fiction and it has many sociopolitical ideas that interest me. Those ideas are wrapped up inside something that is like a Hollywood action film.” He went on to say, “It’s totally original, it’s my own story … It’s set on another planet, but it’s cool. It’s violent, very violent, and very unique hopefully.”
There have been rumors about another alien race and colonization, but nothing has been verified at this time. We do know that Elsyium is set in the far future, so it may be safe to assume that Jodie Foster is the leader of the human planet in the film. That is to assume that she is even playing a human character. Both bits above are just assumptions at this point.
What are your thoughts or assumptions on Elsyium and or Jodie Foster's role?
