Will Armie Hammer play THE LONE RANGER?
The Social Network's Armie Hammer is in early talks to star in the Gore Verbinski directed big screen adaptation of The Lone Ranger, in which he would star opposite Johnny Depp who is already cast as Tonto. Gosling was recently in talks to star in the film, but ended up fizzling out.
Hammer was great in The Social Network, and I can definitely see him wearing the iconic Lone Ranger mask, and shouting the classic line, "Hi Yo Silver! Away!" with his deep booming voice. Yeah, Hammer wouldn't be a bad choice at all. It would be cool if he got it.
The Lone Ranger's origin story begins with a group of Texas Rangers chasing down a gang of outlaws led by Butch Cavendish. The gang ambushes the Rangers, seemingly killing them all. One survivor is found, however, by an American Indian named Tonto, who nurses him back to health. The Ranger, donning a mask and riding a white stallion named Silver, teams up with Tonto to bring the unscrupulous gang and others of that ilk to justice.
