Guy Pearce Joins Ridley Scott's PROMETHEUS

According to a recently report Guy Pearce (Memento, Hurt Locker) has joined Ridley Scott's highly anticipated sci-fi film project Prometheus. Pearce is an awesome actor and it would be fantastic if this news turns out to be true. If cast he will join an already awesome cast that includes Charlize Theron, Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender.

The news comes from Chud who received an e-mail saying,

Evening Nick, my mate is working on Prometheus as OMITTED and met Guy Pierce on set today. She’s previously worked on OMITTED, OMITTED and OMITTED and I’ve no reason to believe she’s lying. I’ve not read anywhere about Guy being cast so thought it might interest you.

Since this news was posted they received a few more confirmations that this news in true, so it looks like we'll see Pearce in a badass sci-fi alien film!

I can't wait to see what this film has in store for us. It started out as an Alien prequel then changed into something else. Even though they say this isn't a Alien prequel there are elements that have leaked out that prove otherwise. You can read more about that here and here

We previously reported that Jon Spaihts (The Darkest Hour) wrote the first draft of the script from an idea Scott had. later on Damon Lindelof (LostStar Trek) and Scott worked together on the current version which has expanded the story into new directions. Lindelof and Scott were only asked to use the 'Alien DNA' as the basis for the script. As you would expect the details are being closely guarded. Scott did reveal the outlines of the film and its genesis as follows:

While Alien was indeed the jumping off point for this project, out of the creative process evolved a new, grand mythology and universe in which this original story takes place. The keen fan will recognize strands of Alien’s DNA, so to speak, but the ideas tackled in this film are unique, large and provocative. I couldn't be more pleased to have found the singular tale I'd been searching for, and finally return to this genre that's so close to my heart.

The film is set to be released on June 8th 2012.
