Movie Review: FAST FIVE

You should know exactly what you’re getting yourself into if you want to see Fast Five. I figure the people that have enjoyed watching the Fast and Furious films like myself are the people that are excited about this movie and will see it. There’s also a whole new untapped market out there of younger people that are just waiting to be introduced to the franchise, and this will be the film to do it.

It was fun to see several of the cast members from the different films in the franchise come together to work on pulling off a insane heist. The acting doesn’t get any better, and neither does the dialogue, but if you want to see a movie with that kind of stuff then don’t go see Fast Five because you’ll hate it.

There were some great scenes in the film that were incredibly fun to watch. I have two scenes in the film that I want to point out as being my favorite. The first is the balls to the walls brawl between Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson. It was great watching these two bald burly actors brutally kick the living shit out of each other. I know Johnson is a big buff dude, but he looked insanely solid in Fast Five. The other scene I liked was the actual vault heist near the end of the film, when Diesel and Paul Walker attached this big ass vault to their cars and drive away with it. They unrelentlessly speed down the public roads hauling this vault, and are completely destroying a countless number cars all along the way. This chase sequence was mind-numbingly spectacular. It rivals anything that Michal Bay has done. If you’re looking for a reason to see the movie, that’s it right there.

I had a blast watching this movie because of how ridiculous and over the top it was. Yes, the script sucked, and it was full of laughable dialogue and stupid situations, but that’s one of the reasons why some of us go out to see these kinds of movies! The other reason is for the incredible action sequences and fight scenes. It’s entertainment, and I just can’t get enough of that crazy awesomeness. As much as you might not be able to stand these movies you can’t deny the entertainment value of that kind of action packed glory. You just have to accept this film for what it is. If you do that, and leave any kind of reality behind you in the movie theater lobby then you should enjoy this movie.

Fast Five is definitley better than many of the other Fast and Furious films, I would say it's tied with my number one favorite, Tokyo Drift.

Here's the synopsis for the film:

Since Brian O'Conner and Mia Toretto broke Dom Toretto out of custody, they've blown across many borders to elude authorities. Now backed into a corner in Rio de Janeiro, they must pull one last job in order to gain their freedom. As they assemble their elite team of top racers, the unlikely allies know their only shot of getting out for good means confronting the corrupt businessman who wants them dead. But he's not the only one on their tail. Hard-nosed federal agent Luke Hobbs never misses his target. When he is assigned to track down Dom and Brian, he and his strike team launch an all-out assault to capture them. But as his men tear through Brazil, Hobbs learns he can't separate the good guys from the bad. Now, he must rely on his instincts to corner his prey... before someone else runs them down first.
