Josh Stolberg Talks About His Secret Hasbro Project!

Writer Josh Stolberg (Piranha 3D) recently did an interview with Moviehole where he talked about his upcoming projects.  They all sound interesting, however, one particular project caught my eye.  He drops a quick line about a secret project that involves Stolberg, writer Bobby Florsheim and Hasbro.

I am not sure what it is, but I hate when someone says that they have a secret project.  It makes me want to find out what it is all about.  Here is what Stolberg has to say about it:

”Bobby [Florsheim] and I just signed up to do a film for Hasbro that we’re incredibly excited about – it’s a big familyfilm and we get to play around with a lot of Hasbro brands, but at the end of the day it’s just a great father-kid relationship story kinda in a Night at the Museum-kinda template.”

Like I said, I hate the "secret project" thing.  So, with a little bit of elbow grease, we here at geektyrant may have found more info.  Over at comingsoon.net we found this little bit of speculation:

It is quite possible that the film in question is Paramount's Hasbro Factory project which, though rumored, has not had an attached writer and has also been compared to the Shawn Levy film.

With a little more searching we found this post from Empire that has this to say:

With Marvel’s plans to unite several of its characters into ready-made team The Avengers slowly coming to fruition, Hasbro has apparently made the decision that it can combine several lesser concepts – such as Play-DohLite Brite and Tinker Toys – into one film.

The plan is to take a leaf from Night At The Museum’s book, and have an adventure where several of these more limited characters all come to life inside the factory.

I am not sure if I have solved the mystery or not, but I have a feeling that I might be close.

Ok, my side job as super sleuth is done for the moment, let me tell you about some of the other projects that Stolberg is working on.

Stolberg is working one a remake of Alfred Hitchcok's TO CATCH A THIEF.  Also MAN-WITCH and film adaptations of the books THE LAST SAMURAI and SKIPPYJON JONES round out the current projects that Stolberg is working on.

The guys sounds like he has a pretty heavy work load, but if he can do these projects justice, he has a very promising career ahead of him.  Until next time, let us know what you think.

McMurphy Out!
