Juan Carlos Fresnadillo to direct THE CROW reboot

Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, director of 28 Weeks Later, has finalized a deal to direct a reboot of The Crow for Relativity Media. The film has yet to cast any actors, but is set to begin production in the fall.  The search is currently underway for a writer to script the story with Fresnadillo based on James O’Barr’s comic book series. The series has such a loyal cult following and has sold more than a quarter-million copies worldwide. The story will once again follow "Eric Draven, who is resurrected as The Crow to avenge his wife’s murder so he can reunite with her in the hereafter." The original came out in 1994 and grossed $51 million in the US. It starred Brandon Lee, who was accidentally shot and killed during filming.

I loved 28 Weeks Later and think that Fresnadillo will be able to capture the dark tone of the film. What are your thoughts on this news?
